The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - (Drama) The French editor of Elle magazine, Jean-Dominique Bauby, who, in 1995 at the age of 43, suffered a stroke that paralyzed his entire body, except his left eye. Using that eye to blink out his memoir, Bauby eloquently described the aspects of his interior world, from the psychological torment of being trapped inside his body to his imagined stories from lands he'd only visited in his mind.

Nanking - (Documentary) Tells the story of the rape of Nanking, one of the most tragic events in history. In 1937, the invading Japanese army murdered over 200,000 and raped tens of thousands of Chinese. In the midst of the horror, a small group of Western expatriates banded together to save 250,000 -- an act of extraordinary heroism. Bringing an event little-known outside of Asia to a global audience, "Nanking" shows the tremendous impact individuals can make on the course of history. It is a gripping account of light in the darkest of times.

The Savages - (Comedy/Drama) Jon and Wendy Savage are two siblings who have spent their adult years trying to recover from the abuse of their abusive father, Lenny Savage. Suddenly, a call comes in that his girlfriend has died, he cannot care for himself with his dementia and her family is dumping him on his children. Despite the fact Jon and Wendy have not spoken to Lenny for twenty years and he is even more loathsome than ever, the Savage siblings feel obliged to take care of him. Now together, brother and sister must come to terms with the new and painful responsibilities with their father now affecting their lives even as they struggle with their own personal demons Lenny helped create.

Charlie Wilson's War - (Drama/Comedy) In the early 1980s, Charlie Wilson is best known as a womanizing US congressional representative from Texas. He seemed to be in the minor leagues, except for the fact that he is a member of two major foreign policy and covert-ops committees. However, once Charlie is prodded by his major conservative supporter, Joanne Herring, Wilson learns about the plight of the people who are suffering from the effects of the brutal Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. With the help of the maverick CIA agent, Gust Avrakotos, Wilson dedicates his canny political efforts to supply the Afghan mujahideen with the weapons and support needed to defeat the Soviet Union. Ultimately, Charlie learns that while military victory can be obtained, there are other consequences and prices to that fight that are ignored to everyone's sorrow.

Cloverfield - (Horror) Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of hand held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character.


The Orphanage - (Drama/Horror) With her husband and son, a woman returns to the orphanage where she grew up to make it into a home for disabled children, but terrifying events and her son's disappearance force her to face the evil that is in the house.

Romulus,My Father. - (Drama) Based on Raimond Gaita's critically acclaimed memoir of the same name. It tells the story of Romulus, his beautiful wife, Christina, and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond.

Wristcutters: A Love Story - (Drama) After killing himself, Zia discovers an afterlife where he and a new rocker friend go on a road trip through Purgatory to find Zia's old girlfriend, who also killed herself.

I Am Legend - (Science Fiction) Immune to an incurable virus, Robert Neville believes he is the last human on Earth and tries to find a cure to stop the mutant creatures that still roam New York City.

Enchanted - (Fantasy) A princess is banished from a magical animated land and finds herself in modern-day Manhattan, where a cynical man comes to her rescue.

Atonement - (Drama) In 1935 England, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis witnesses an event involving her sister Cecilia and her childhood friend Robbie Turner, and she becomes the victim of her own imagination, which leads her on a lifelong search for truth and absolution.

The Gymnast - (Drama) When an injury ends the career of a talented gymnast, she falls into a tedious life and a loveless marriage until by chance she has the opportunity to perform an aerial act in Las Vegas with a beautiful and mysterious dancer.


Michael Clayton - (Drama) A former criminal prosecutor, Michael Clayton takes care of the law firm Kenner, Bach, & Ledeen's dirtiest work at the behest of the firm's co-founder, Marty Bach. Burned out with his job as a fixer, his divorce, a failed business venture, and mounting debt have left Clayton inextricably tied to the firm But when Kenner Bach's brilliant and guilt-ridden attorney Arthur Edens sabotages the U/North case, Clayton faces the biggest challenge of his career and his life.

American Gangster - (Drama) Following the death of his employer and mentor, Bumpy Johnson, Frank Lucas establishes himself as the number one importer of heroin in Harlem. His alliance with the New York Mafia ensures his position. Richie Roberts is a dedicated and honest policeman who heads up a joint narcotics task force with the Federal government and is determined to bring down Lucas' drug empire. Based on a true story.

In the Valley of Elah - (Drama) Hank, a retired Sergeant with the Military Police, receives a call informing him that his youngest son, Mike, has gone AWOL. He thought his son was in Iraq, but is informed that Mike returned stateside four days ago with his platoon. Hank tries to find out what happened, but continues to encounter hurdles. Yet he is persistent, uncovering things no one wants to hear, including himself.

Rendition - (Drama) When an Egyptian terrorism suspect "disappears" on a flight from Africa to Washington DC, his American wife and a CIA analyst find themselves caught up in a struggle to secure his release from a secret detention facility somewhere outside the U.S.

Moolaade - (Drama) When a woman shelters a group of girls from suffering female circumcision, she starts a conflict that tears her village apart.

I Could Never Be Your Woman - (Comedy) This movie follows a mother who falls for a younger man while her daughter falls in love for the first time. Tracey Ullman plays Mother Nature, who messes with their fates.

The Tudors - (TV Drama) The first season of the cable series. Chronicles the life and reign of young King Henry VIII as he quests for a legitimate male heir and separates from the Catholic church.


Bee Movie - (Comedy) Tired of only having one career choice, a bee goes out of the hive and befriends a florist, discovers that humans steal honey from bees, and decides to take action by suing the human race.

No Country for Old Men - (Drama) A man living in a small Texas town comes across a crime scene and finds two million dollars, and a killer is set on his trail to recover the money. Won the 2007 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay.

Dan in Real Life - (Comedy) An advice columnist trying to raise his daughters on his own falls in love with a woman who is dating his brother.

Margot at the Wedding - (Drama) Margot travels to see her sister get married, and the already tense relationship between the siblings threatens the occasion.

Things We Lost in the Fire - (Drama) After losing her husband to an act of violence, a widow lets his best friend, a recovering drug addict, move closer to her family and together they try to recover from the loss.

Tin Man - (Fantasy) Dorothy Gale, a.k.a. DG, is all grown up and bored. She mopes around working as a waitress and goes to school part time. Before she knows it, she's back in OZ and on the run from the evil sorceress Azkadellia, her storm troopers and clumsy bats.
